Map modes
The map mode decides what is shown on the world map. The default map mode when a game is started or loaded is Terrain.

Terrain: Displays terrain. This is especially important when deciding where we want to engage in combat, as some topography and vegetation impact the result.

Political: Each nation is colored with its specific nation color. Stripes indicate location with a controller that is not the owner.

Building Based Countries: Shows only building based countries.

Development: This colors the locations depending on their development, where the highest development in the world is the brightest green.

Prosperity: This colors the locations depending on their prosperity, which gives a green shade when positive, or a red shade when negative.

Location Ranks: Shows towns and cities. Towns are colored silver and cities are colored gold.

Raw Materials: This colors the locations, depending on what raw goods they produce.

Province Food: This colors the locations depending on their monthly food. Shades of green indicate if the province is buying food, selling food or starving.

Food Productivity: This colors the locations depending on the food productivity. Shades of green indicate a positive productivity, with shades of red indicating negative productivity.

Control: This colors the locations depending on the control that its owner can exert over it.

Proximity to Capital: This colors the locations depending on the proximity to the capital of the selected country.

Roads: Colors the locations if any road is present there.

Markets: This gives each location the color of which market it belongs to, while the shade of the color indicates the market access of the location.

Population Satisfaction: This colors the locations depending on the average pop satisfaction, from red to green.

Population: Each location is colored from red to green depending on how much population it has, compared to the highest populated location. Stripes indicate location where the population exceeds the population capacity.

Majority Social Class: Each location is colored according to its most numerous type of pop, i.e. its dominant social class.

Migration: This colors the locations depending on their migration attraction, which gives a green shade where pops want to move to, and a red shade where they want to leave.

Rebels: Colors the rebel factions of a location closest to taking up arms there. The colors are the same as in the Location Cultures map mode.

Nobles: Each location is colored from red to green depending on how many Nobles it has, compared to the location that has the most.

Diplomacy: This colors the locations depending on their owner's used diplomatic capacity towards the selected country, where dark grey indicates that they are outside their diplomatic range. Stripes indicate if the selected country has a core on it.

Great Powers: This colors each country by its great power rank.

War: Any country at war with the selected country is colored red, while those fighting together with them are green. Occupation is striped in the opposite color.

Players: This colors the locations depending on the human players and shows the players' names above their played countries. This primarily useful in multiplayer games.

Victory Cards: This colors the locations depending on whether there is a victory card on them or not.

Tactical: Indicates which locations have more defensive bonus, depending on climate and topography.

Fortifications: This colors the locations, depending on the diplomatic status with fort owners. Green locations indicate friendly forts, red locations indicate war enemy forts, and yellow locations indicate neutral forts.

Supply: This colors the locations depending on their supply limit. If no army is selected, red indicates a low supply limit, yellow indicates medium supply limit and green indicates a high supply limit. When an army is selected, locations which cannot support the selected army are red, while those that can are green. A location that can just barely support the selected army is colored yellow.
Military Access: Colors locations the selected country has military access to.

Maritime Presence: This colors coastal locations and adjacent sea zones by the maritime presence the selected country has in the adjacent sea zone.

Naval Range: This colors coastal locations and sea zones from yellow to green when they are well within the naval range of our country and red to black when they are out of our range.

Colonial: This colors the locations owned by the selected country in green, foreign locations with their buildings in cyan, and their colonial charters in blue.
